Doing animal portraits over the last decade and connecting

with other animal lovers has brought me so much joy.

THE PROCESS….

I work from photos.  You can send me your favorite or a few options to consider and we can work together to choose the one that will work best - and same with size selection for your art (if you don’t already have a size in mind.)

*Keep in mind when choosing photos that lighting is key - the more detailed your photograph, the more detailed your final painting can be!  Photos  taken in natural outdoor light (preferably in the shade to prevent harsh shadows) are usually the best bet - and here's a link to a fun and informative article on the best ways to photograph you pet from the blog A Beautiful Mess.

You can email me your photos at gretmackintosh@gmail.com or use the form on the contact page to get in touch and start the conversation that way.

For the smaller size paintings, I often do a solid colored background (just let me know if you have a color preference).  For more than one animal in a single piece, an additional fee per each additional animal featured may be charged.  Also, for more in-depth, detailed backgrounds, like the animal print pattern in the Louie II painting, an extra cost may be applied depending on complexity.

Turnaround-time for each painting depends on size of painting and my current schedule. A deposit is required to get on the waiting list. Contact me for information on specifics.

*the earlier the better for Christmas commission orders as this is a VERY busy time of year for me and i typically cut off orders in early December.
