My painting for the 2022 Griffith-Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year award...

A look at my newest painting for receiving the 2022 Griffith-Reyburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year Award through the Coastal Community Foundation. I proposed a 3' x 3' painting of the downtown charleston area for the grant/award and as the months went by, the idea kept getting bigger in my mind... fast forward to August when I had a 5' x 5' panel delivered to my studio and thought "Wow. That's a bit bigger than I thought it would be." ha.
This is the most detailed "map painting" that I've ever done and I loved getting absorbed in the details of my favorite city.

This painting of downtown Charleston is an acrylic painting on wood panel, finished with a shiny coat of resin and custom framed in teak. Image above of it hanging in the Garden & Gun offices at the (magical) Award Reception last week.

painting title: "Southern Charm"
size: 60 x 60
